Re·al·schu·le f type of secondary/junior high school for ages 10 to 16 where pupils can work towards the ‘mittlere Reife’¿Kultur?In terms of academic attainment, the Realschule lies somewhere between theHauptschule - secondary modern and the Gymnasium - grammar school. The school leaving certificate after Year 10 is called the Mittlere Reife - roughly equivalent to GCSEs. Usually pupils go on to three years of vocational training, however students with very good marks also have the chance to continue their education at a Gymnasium.
